Using the Defra logo

Our logo consists of three elements which must not be altered or adjusted in any way:

  • A green colour line (Pantone 582)
  • The Royal Coat of Arms
  • Our name ‘Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs’ in full

The logo can be used by organisations that have a relationship with the Department subject to Defra’s agreement – For example where the organisation has a relationship with Defra as a partner, a funded organisation, an associated body or where Defra is a sponsor to that organisation or a specific initiative.

There are two versions of the Defra logo available:

Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

For digital use

If you wish to use either digital logo please select the version that is the most appropriate format for your digital application and download it from this page. The logo must in all cases be supported by the alt attribute ‘Defra – Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs’. Before downloading please refer to the terms and conditions of use below.

For traditional media

If you wish to use the Defra logo for other forms of media (for example print publications, display materials and collateral) contact us via cdcorporateidentity@defra.gsi.gov.uk for the file versions you require (.eps or .jpg for example) and we will respond as quickly as we can.

Terms of use

Please note that in all instances the use of these Defra logos are subject to the following terms and conditions:

  • The logo must never be altered, always be placed in the top left of communications where possible with equal spacing above and to the left, and be applied at a fully readable size across all intended applications.
  • The Defra logo must not be used in any derogatory or misleading manner. It must not (without explicit, written agreement from Defra to the proposed use) be used in such a way that it could be taken as a form of endorsement or approval.
  • The Defra logo should appear on the home page of any website where Defra or one of its Agencies or Non Departmental Public Bodies is the main sponsor, main contributor or commissioning body for the site. Such bodies should contact Defra for approval to their proposed use of the logo
  • When abbreviating ‘Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs’ always use Defra and do not capitalise to ‘DEFRA’
  • We prefer that the logo itself should not be used as a hyperlink.

If under the terms of the preceding paragraphs, you need Defra’s approval to your proposed use of the logo please contact us via cdcorporateidentity@defra.gsi.gov.uk and we will respond as quickly as we can.
