This publication includes background and specific practical advice. Building Music is a useful classroom resource but cannot take the place of a proper training programme for teachers or composers.
The book is divided into four parts. The first provides a detailed strategy for teaching composing at Key Stage 2; the second contains general guidance for teachers, heads, and composers on the situations likely to arise when visiting composers and songwriters come to the school to run composing projects; the third section is a collection of essays on different aspects of teaching composing in primary schools; and the fourth is a reference section.
