Convergence in a Digital Landscape – Challenge 2 funding awards

29 Oct 2012

Eight small companies have been awarded grant funding totalling £430,000 to carry out research and development feasibility projects that address the converged nature of the digital landscape.

The funding awards follow the completion of the second part of the Technology Strategy Board (www.innovateuk.org)-managed Convergence in a Digital Landscape competition for feasibility funding.  The new projects will focus on work that will lead to true cross-platform origination of content, the collaborative generation of ideas, and new business models for content based on cross-media formats and consumption.

The companies leading the projects are: AIMES Grid Services Ltd, Animal Vegetable Mineral Ltd, BCre8ive Ltd, Inventures Software Ltd, Portal Entertainment, SAMI Consulting, StickyWorld Ltd and Thoughtified Ltd.

The third challenge opened on 15 October 2012 and seeks projects that investigate the potential of cross-platform analytical metrics and feedback tools to help content producers better understand the consumption of their products in a converged digital landscape.  The deadline for registration is 14 November 2012 and applications must be submitted by 21 November 2012.

Projects must be led by small or micro businesses, working individually or in collaboration, and should last no more than 12 months. Total project costs must not exceed £75,000 and up to 75% grant funding will be available.
