Clean & Cool Mission Takes Off to San Francisco

19 Feb 2010

Nineteen leading UK clean technology companies, selected as part of the Clean & Cool Mission to Silicon Valley, set off this weekend.

Whilst in San Francisco they will have the opportunity to engage with the US's top technology businesses and see how they are approaching the emerging market opportunities that the race to address climate change presents. The businesses, already highly successful in the UK, will meet the media, peers from around the world, investors and potential partners; they will also engage with experts on the financial and public policy agendas relevant to clean technology businesses operating in the US.

Whist in Silicon Valley, members of the public, business people and media can keep up to date on how the companies are doing, who they're meeting and what they're getting out of the experience by following the Clean and Cool Mission blog at www.cleanandcoolmission.com/blog. This will be kept regularly updated with blog posts, video and audio content from the organisers and entrepreneurs.

"The innovation in the UK clean tech sector is amongst the best in the world and we can't wait to showcase PassivEnergy to a wider audience," said Colin Calder, CEO, PassivSystems. "Clean and Cool Mission provides us with a great opportunity to meet with media and demonstrate the benefits of a consumer-focused home energy management system and also gain a deeper understanding of the US smart energy market."

Iain Gray, Chief Executive of the Technology Strategy Board said:

"These companies are some of the most innovative clean tech businesses in the UK and I wish them every success as they showcase their technologies and seek business opportunities in the United States."

The mission takes place between 20th and 26th February.
