Innovators recognised in Queens Birthday Honours List 2012

Congratulations to all the innovators and colleagues of Technology Strategy Board recognised in the Queens Birthday Honours List 2012:

Ms Sara Murray (pictured)  Chief Executive Officer, buddi and Board Member, Technology Strategy Board awarded OBE for services to entrepreneurship and innovation.

Professor Julia King CBE, former Board Member of Technology Strategy Board, Vice-Chancellor Aston University awarded DBE for services to higher education and technology.

Colin Drummond, Chief Executive, Viridor Waste and Chair of the Environmental Sustainability Knowledge Transfer Network, awarded OBE for services to technology and innovation.

Dr Michael Short, Vice President O2 group / Telefonica Europe and Chair of the ICT Knowledge Transfer Network, awarded CBE for services to mobile communications technology

Entrepreneurs and innovators from large and small businesses across the UK were recognised alongside those from the research base and support bodies with those from industry receiving 12% of the awards and 2% for science and technology:

Professor Michael Sterling, Chair of STFC awarded a knighthood for services to higher education, science and engineering.

Professor James McDonald, Principal and Vice Chancellor University of Strathclyde  awarded a knighthood for services to education, engineering and the economy.

Colin Smith, Director Engineering and Technology, Rolls-Royce plc awarded CBE for services to UK engineering.

(David) John Jeans, CEO MRC, awarded CBE for services to life science, healthcare and science.

Dr Norman Apsley, Chief Executive, Northern Ireland Science Park awarded OBE for services to science and economic development

Dr Peter Bonfield, Chief Executive, BRE awarded OBE for services to research and innovation in the construction industry

Bonnie Dean, Chief Executive, Bristol and Bath Science Park awarded OBE for services to design, technology and innovation.

Dr Dougal Goodman, Chief Executive, The Foundation for Science and Technology awarded OBE for services to science.

Jerry Hardcastle, Vice-President, Nissan Technical Centre Europe awarded OBE for services to the UK automotive industry.

Jason Kingsley, Chief Executive Officer, Creative Director and Co-Founder of Rebellion awarded OBE for services to the economy.
