Medicines and procurement

Clare Howard is the lead for the QIPP medicines and procurement work stream. She is currently seconded from NHS South Central where she led the successful regional Medicines Use and Procurement QIPP programme, which delivered significant efficiencies across primary and secondary care. Clare has worked with NHS Employers on the implementation phase of the recent changes to the community pharmacy contractual framework.

The QIPP medicines use and procurement work stream aims to generate additional cash releasing savings while continuing to improve quality. It focuses on primary care prescribing, better medicines management in secondary care, home care, community based support for patients taking medicines, medicines waste, medication safety, and engaging patients, the public and other health care professionals.
