Press release - National innovation agency celebrates official opening

01 Jul 2009

The organisation that works to ensure British business is at the forefront of technology innovation is celebrating the official opening of its new national headquarters in Swindon on Friday 3 July and will be joined by regional business leaders.

The Technology Strategy Board, a business-focused government body that promotes and supports technological innovation in the UK, established its national headquarters in Swindon in 2007. It moved to new offices earlier this year and now employs nearly 100 people.

Michael Wills, MP for North Swindon, and Iain Gray, Chief Executive of the Technology Strategy Board, will officially open the new office at a lunchtime reception at North Star House on North Star Avenue.

Michael Wills said:

"Swindon already has a strong reputation for attracting big business and high profile organisations and the official opening of the Technology Strategy Board's new offices in the town is another feather in our cap. We already play proud host to the Research Councils and the addition of the Technology Strategy Board to this already interesting and diverse mix of organisations is a real boost for civic pride."

Iain Gray, Chief Executive of the Technology Strategy Board said:

"We have invited a range of local and regional business leaders along to the event, which will be a real celebration, as the launch of our new office space coincides with our second birthday. We believe it's important to build relationships with local business leaders and the event is a chance for them to find out more about us and how we may be able to work together in the future"

The Swindon Strategic Economic Partnership is supporting the event and has invited its members to attend.
