Speaking today about his appointment, Mr Gray, who until recently was Managing Director and General Manager of Airbus UK, said "This is an inspiring organisation, and I am joining at a hugely exciting time.  I am delighted to have the chance to lead this new body, whose main purpose is to stimulate innovation and technology on behalf of the UK as a whole."

He added "I come from a business background, and have worked in a company for whom innovation is critical. Understanding the needs of business, and what it takes to innovate effectively, is vital to the Technology Strategy Board's work.  I am looking forward immensely to working with all our partners and the business community on the challenges, and the immense opportunities, which lie ahead."
