The Technology Strategy Board is establishing a Connected Digital Economy Catapult to address the challenges of maximising the economic value of the growing digital economy to UK businesses.  Organisations interested to help the Technology Strategy Board establish this Catapult centre can submit their details via from 13 until 28 March.  A brochure with more information about the Catapult and the Registration of Interest process is also available from this web address.

The Technology Strategy Board, in conjunction with the Connected Digital Economy Catapult Special Interest Group(SIG), is holding briefing sessions on the Catapult this week in Edinburgh and London to inform the business and academic communities.  If you would like to be kept abreast of developments, receive event notifications and discuss the Catapult with us, we strongly recommend you join the SIG group  here:

 The Connected Digital Economy Catapult has the following three complementary objectives:

—  To create new and sustainable ways to create wealth from digital media and content;

—  To drive digital service provision in sectors newer to the internet economy;

—  To encourage new applications and services based on linking the physical world and the internet.

These objectives emerged from an extensive consultation process in 2011, during which the Technology Strategy Board engaged with more than 400 organisations and businesses.  The Catapult will achieve these objectives by bringing together problem-owners, solution-providers and users from various sectors, so that they can address the technological and non-technological challenges through applied research, system development and pre-commercial pilots and trials.
