  • Research Councils UK welcomes Science Europe call to safeguard European research and innovation budget
    Funding from the European budget for research and innovation is a valuable funding stream for UK research, with the UK receiving the second largest share of the funding after Germany (14.9% or nearly €4 billion in the period until June 2012). Research Councils UK welcomes the position statement issued by Science Europe today, 14th November 2012, which calls for the safeguarding of Europe’s future by protecting its research and innovation budget.

    On 2 April 2012 the Research Councils Internal Audit Service (RCIAS) merged with RCUK Assurance to create a single audit and assurance body. The new merged organisation is called Audit and Assurance Services Group (AASG) which reflects its new combined assurance role and the variety of customers it now serves.

Joint funding with the Research Councils UK Energy Programme, led by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) for research projects into smart energy grids and with the Medical Research Council (MRC) to help the development of collaborative links between stem cell scientists in the UK and China.
