Implementing The Productive Operating Theatre at Gateshead NHS Foundation Trust has helped reduce staff absence by 50% and improved list start times by 83%.  The Pharmacy department has also played an important role in improving efficiency in theatres which has led to a saving of over £35,000.

Bristol case study The Productive Operating Theatre programme has helped University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust achieve a £2 million saving through reductions in waiting lists. With better list utilisation, the Trust has been able to develop a “Short Notice Protocol” for second eye cataract patients, whereby patients are brought in for operation with one hour notice.
