Commissioners wanted: London Sustainable Development Commission

The London Sustainable Development Commission (LSDC) are recruiting commisioners. In their words:

The LSDC is looking for senior level experience in the sustainability field, or in a related area. You will have demonstrated outstanding communication and leadership skills and thrive in a highly political environment. Above all, you must bring drive, commitment and practicality to deliver solutions to the sustainability challenges London faces.

The LSDC are looking in particular for experts in the key areas of: Finance, Economics, Business, the Natural Environment, Housing, Education and Skills, Equalities and Communications who are personally committed to the principles of sustainability and to working towards a city where all Londoners and visitors feel the greatest possible sense of physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual well-being.The London Sustainable Development Commission (LSDC) is the independent body advising the Mayor of London on making the capital the benchmark sustainable city by 2020. Its role is to promote integrated and innovative solutions, policies and programmes to deliver mprovements in quality of life for everyone, now and in the future.

Commissioners will be responsible for informing and championing London’s approach to quality of life and embedding sustainable development principles into decision making across various sectors. Dealing with issues as diverse as climate change, inequality and community cohesion, the London wide implications of the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, and sustainable consumption and production, you will build on the success of the Commission and bring fresh ideas for the future.
