What will happen to your comments

This site allows you to comment online on the proposed clauses in the draft bill and provide your views on the effect you think they would have in practice.

You can also answer questions by topic about the proposed changes outlined in the bill.

You can comment on as many or as few of the clauses and questions as you like. Your comments will be published on the site along with your name.

All the comments we receive until 19 October will be considered by the team working on the Bill, and will feed directly into the process of parliamentary scrutiny.

Your comments will be used to assist and challenge the government in considering how to improve the proposals in the draft Bill.

The deadline for all comments is 19th October 2012, but the published comments will remain on this site on this site after 19 October.

What happens next?

This is a draft Bill, which means that a committee of MPs and/or Peers will consider it at an early stage and influence what it says. This process is called ‘pre-legislative scrutiny’. For more details on the process, please visit the Parliament website.
