Listening, learning and understanding

The Independent Riots Communities and Victims Panel was set up to examine and understand why the August 2011 riots took place.

The Panel has now disbanded and this website is no longer managed.

We would like to thank everyone who gave evidence to the Panel, which is reflected in our reports.

Final report

The Riots Communities and Victims Panel’s final report was published on 28 March 2012. This sets out our final findings and recommendations for action to help prevent future riots.

This report has been presented to the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Leader of the Official Opposition.

Interim report

Our interim report ’5 days in August’ was published on 28 November 2011. This set out our findings and immediate recommendations for action, following a national call for evidence made on 16 September 2011.
