England riots: guidance and support information

Were you affected by the August 2011 riots?

This page offers you information on Government compensation and support made available for individuals, businesses, Local Authorities and Fire and Rescue Authorities affected by the August 2011 riots.

The Recovery Scheme, High Street Support Scheme and Homelessness Support Scheme (that met the immediate costs of emergency accommodation for families who were been made homeless by the disturbances), have now closed.

The High Street Support Scheme closed to claims on 31 January 2012. We are currently assessing High Street Support Scheme claims and will reimburse councils in the coming weeks.

The Recovery Scheme has so far paid out £1,834,046 to reimburse councils for expenses incurred as a result of disturbances. More payments will be made over the coming weeks.

We are in the process of reimbursing a total of £380,255 to the six councils that submitted claims under the Homelessness Support Scheme.
