This toolkit is designed to help maternity services review and assess their current practice in promoting normal birth and reducing CS rates. The toolkit also provides practical techniques to support sustainable changes in maternity services.

A self-assessment tool for maternity units to review and assess their current practice in promoting normal birth and reducing CS rates and provides practical techniques to support sustainable changes. The toolkit includes: Five key pathways to support normal birth and reducing Caesarean section rates (First pregnancy and labour, vaginal birth after Caesarean (VBAC), Elective Caesarean section, top ten characteristics and organisational characteristics). A self-assessment tool for each pathway, self-improvement action plans, tools for improvement, measures for improvement, facilitators guidance.

For use in multi-disciplinary workshops. The toolkit can:
