15 Steps Challenge masterclass

When the mother of a young girl who was a regular inpatient made this comment, we intuitively knew what she meant. This mum quickly gained a sense of how her daughter would be cared for on each new ward.

What would happen in your organisation?

Would your wards pass this mum’s “15 Steps Challenge”?

What do patients think of your care?

More information

The NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement has worked with patients, carers, staff and board members to co-design the 15 Steps Challenge toolkit.  It is a resource to help staff, patients and others to work together to identify improvements that will enhance the patient experience.  The Challenge toolkit uses a framework based on the Care Quality Commission’s Essential Standards and the evidence on what matters to patients. This helps structure observations around environment and practice.  The focus is on good practice to share, and areas for improvement.

This masterclass has been developed for those who are already familiar with the 15 Steps Challenge concept and would like further information and discussion about successful implementation. Alice Williams, Associate from the NHS Institute, will outline implementation of the 15 Steps Challenge in more detail, including possible pitfalls, tips for successful delivery and useful case studies from organisations.
