Afternoon all MMUnion Students new and old! If you’ve just received you’re a-level results and you will be winging your way across to us this September, congratulations and welcome to the gang! Those who are returning we can’t wait to have you back!

Every month us officers get together to help put the world to rights! We do this by discussing issues that students are talking about, issues which are affecting students and things that need to address by the students union! So every month I or one of the other officers will be giving you a quick round up of the discussions we have been having! So I’ll start at the top and be nice and brief!

As an officer group we are looking at how we should priorities the issues for the year ahead to make sure we can get the most wins possible for MMU students! Which with a group of 5 intelligent, passionate and committed officers (and myself) is no easy task! But some of the keys discussions have been around Student Employability, Community Relationships and Student engagement across our  campuses!

Some Students may be aware of NUS holding a National Demonstration in London in November! MMUnion will be supporting this events, and will be attending this! However how we get involved and how we support is what we need you for! Your community officer Katie, has starting looking into creative protesting ‘The Art of Protest’ with a local Manchester based charity, and myself and your Cheshire VP Laura attending a talk by NUS President Liam Burns! So we are getting more clued up! But will be looking for a lot of support and input from you guys!

Some of our other discussions revolved around the important issues of the colour of Officer Hoodies! (It only took 3 and a half minutes, and we choose Grey and Burgandy), a better way for officers to keep track of issues arising in meetings and so we can share our work with you more and plan for make sure our Student Reps have the most impact they possibly can!

All of these minutes will be uploaded onto the website soon to make sure you can all access the conversations we are having and what we are doing with our time!

Finally we had a chat around our 2012 Welcome Week program for all our new students, all I can say is… Blooming Heck is it going to be incredible! Make sure you all check it out @ www.mmunion.co.uk/welcome and on our facebook page www.facebook.com/welcomemmu and continue to follow our Twitter accounts @MMU_President, @MMU_Community, @MMU_Education, @MMUC_VPCheshire, @MMUC_Activities. @MMU_Activities

This year is going to be amazing, so make sure you don’t miss by being lazy. Get involved, Get Engaged and look out for your officers coming to a Campus near you!

    Bye!

Advice Centre Blog

We have been receiving lots of calls from poorly students and worried parents during exam resit season. If you are too ill to attend your exam (or will attend but haven’t performed to the best of your ability) or haven’t submitted an assignment by the deadline you MUST submit an Exceptional Factors form with evidence. MMU have devised a helpful page on assessments Here  and we have written an Exceptional Factors Guide

If you want any further help call us or come and visit us at the Advice Centre
