What are apprenticeships?

Apprenticeships are targeted at young people who are non-graduates. Apprentices must be employed for the length of time it takes to complete all the qualifications within the Apprenticeship. They can remain an Apprentice by moving onto the next level Apprenticeship and existing staff can be considered for an Apprenticeship. The Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage is £2.60 ph.

Why would you take on an Apprentice?

You can develop your workforce of the future and teach good practices, values and beliefs from day one. An apprentice will help you gain a better appreciation of a younger and more local audience.

What is the Apprenticeship Training Service and how can they help me?

The Apprenticeship Training Service (ATS) is a service for employers who are looking at taking on an apprentice. They help you through all the different stages of the process: from understanding apprenticeships, right through to recruitment.

They can even provide the service of employing the Apprentice on your behalf. You pay the salary plus 16% and they employ them and provide payroll services.  This offers reassurance for companies facing uncertain futures and a solution to recruitment freezes. It also gives small employers the chance to share an Apprentice. Find out more about what they can do for you...

Have you got any case studies or examples I can look at?

We have case studies available from apprentices who have successfully completed, or are in the middle of an apprenticeship. We also have case studies from employers whop give their view on what is was like taking on an apprentice and also working with the Apprenticeship Training Service.
