The GLA works together with key organisations to make sure London remains a world-class city of culture.

The London Cultural Strategy Group (LCSG) helps to develop and deliver the Mayor’s Cultural Strategy – his vision for art and culture in the capital.  It also helps coordinate partnerhsips between key organisations in London.

As well as the LCSG, there are other organisations which regularly support and advise the Mayor on culture. The work of the following groups is particularly important:

London Living Places Partnership
The aim of this partnership between cultural agencies and funding bodies is to make sure culture is always considered in plans for London’s growth.

London 2012 Cultural Olympiad Board
The 2012 Cultural Olympiad Board manages the Cultural Olympiad in the UK. The Mayor’s Office is represented on this board and makes sure London’s cultural sector is reflected in the overall Olympiad programme.

City Planning Group for Culture
One of its main task is to develop a cultural planning tool for organisations and the public to see what activities are being developed in the city. It also helps to coordinate London plans for 2012 and work with the 2012 City Operation planning more widely.

London Cultural Improvement Programme (LCIP)

The LCIP supports improvement in cultural services in London boroughs. It has been signed up to by all but three of London’s boroughs.

London Assembly

The London Assembly examines the Mayor's cultural strategy and recommends improvements to it. The Economic development, Culture, Sport and Tourism Committee investigates issues of importance to London's cultural life including the funding of London's cultural life.

London Councils
London Councils represents London boroughs and plays a key role in developing and enhancing local services. It runs the Culture, Tourism and 2012 Forum, which works to improve cultural services and spread the benefits of the 2012 Games.
