Get involved

We are supporting the RSPB’s campaign to save swifts by encouraging Londoners to let us know where swifts are nesting.

There are many ways to help protect and conserve London’s biodiversity.

To make the most of opportunities for wildlife, habitats need to be managed and much of this is undertaken by volunteers. You can volunteer with organisations such as London Wildlife Trust and BTCV.

Alternatively you can take part in wildlife surveys such as the RSPB’s annual Big Garden Birdwatch  or you can submit your sightings of wildlife to GiGL.

Make your garden more attractive to wildlife by choosing the right plants, creating a pond or providing nesting sites for birds and insects.

Even buildings can provide space for wildlife. Some species such as swifts, peregrine falcons and bats rely on spaces in and on buildings.

For the more adventurous, you can install your own green roof.
