The Department for Education (DfE) have agreed that they will maintain the strategic lead for foster care work when CWDC closes in April 2012.  This includes the (TSD) Standards for foster carers.  All foster carers continue to be required to complete the TSD Standards within 12 months of approval (or 18 months for family and friends foster carers). Find out more

Welcome to our foster care information

Being a foster carer is a unique and multi-faceted role. It is one of the few roles which can be seen as a career based in your own home. It involves you working closely with other professionals in social services, education, health care services and sometimes the Police and legal system.

Watch our online video and hear what children and young people think about foster care.
