National Clinical Director for Hospital Pharmacy

Martin Stephens was appointed as National Clinical Director for Pharmacy in November 2008 with responsibility for pharmacy in hospitals.Martin Williams

  • ensures: that discharged patients, GPs, and pharmacists are aware of any medication changes
  • contributes: ongoing hands-on hospital experience
  • is responsible for: improving the safety of medicines and improving healthcare systems

About Martin Stephens: Martin moved to the Romsey area in 1997 after training and working in the Midlands. Hereford-born Martin has spent nearly all his career in hospital pharmacy although he did do a stint behind the counter at his local branch of Boots as a student placement.

He will continue to spend half his time at Southampton University Hospital Trust, where he carries the impressive title of Associate Medical Director of clinical effectiveness and medicines management.
