Patient Level Costing and Information Systems (PLICS) survey 2010

As part of the reference cost collection of 2009-10 (summer to autumn 2010), the Department's Payment by Results team conducted a survey of all NHS provider organisations regarding the implementation of PLICS within the NHS.

The purpose of the survey was to determine

  • the number of organisations using PLICS
  • what stage they were at in implementing PLICS
  • the usefulness of PLICS data
  • whether PLICS data was used to underpin the reference cost collection

Results
The survey was non-mandatory, however out of the 412 NHS provider organisations surveyed nearly 80% responded. The high-level results are summarised in the attached PDF document with accompanying detail in the excel document.
