Welcome to the Thameslink 2000 Public Inquiry Home Page.

The First Secretary of State has decided to call for a public inquiry into the PDF various applications for planning permission and listed building consent made in 2003/2004 to the Corporation of London and London Borough of Southwark by Network Rail in response to his decision on 29 January 2003 to defer his decision on the Thameslink 2000 TWA Orders.

This inquiry will be held at the same time as a re-opened inquiry into the applications made by Network Rail for an Order under the Transport and Works Act 1992 which has been called for by the First Secretary of State and the Secretary of State for Transport.

A joint PDF Statement of Matters lists those issues that the two Secretaries of State wish to be informed upon.

The Inspectors

The Inspector appointed to conduct the inquiry is Mr Ken Barton BA (Hons), DipArch, DipArb, RIBA, FCIArb. An assistant Inspector, Colin Tyrrell MA, CENG, MICE, FIHT, has also been appointed.

Inquiry dates and venue

The Inspector will open the inquiry at 10.00am on Tuesday 6 September 2005 at the 8th floor conference suite, Bankside House, 24 Sumner Street, London, SE1 9JA. This inquiry is currently expected to last for about two to three months.

Programme Officer

Graham Groom has been appointed as the programme officer for the inquiry. The programme officer will assist the inspector in planning the inquiry, including recording and sending out of documents.

Inquiry Library

The Inquiry Library is currently being set up and will be kept by the Programme Officer at Bankside House once the inquiry begins. Prior to the inquiry the library will be at James Forbes House, 27 Great Suffolk Street, London SE1 ONS. The library will be accessible Mon-Fri between 09.00 to 17.30 hours.
