The approaches supporting the government's objectives for reducing crime and re-offending include:
- Integrated Offender Management – supplies an overarching framework allows local and partner agencies to come together to ensure that offenders whose crime causes most damage and harm locally are managed in a coordinated way
- Drug Interventions Programme – provides a local crime reduction approach to tackling drug-related offending
- Prolific and other Priority Offenders programme – offers an intensive focus on the most prolific offenders
In addition, the government’s Positive Futures programme provides crime prevention and diversionary activities for young people.
The Home Office works with other government departments to provide tools and other resources that can be used locally to help develop and embed these approaches, taking account of local priorities and circumstances.
