This page contains details of new research that the Department for Education intends to commission from external contractors.

You must submit an expression of interest (EOI) in order to be considered for an invitation to tender. Submission of an EOI does not guarantee an invitation and the Department does not routinely advise organisations that they have not been successful. However, we will provide feedback if you request it.

To express an interest you must be registered with us and will need your ID number.

If you need to register please complete the supplier registration form available in the associated resources on this page.

If you are already registered with us, but have forgotten your ID number email enquiries.rbu@education.gsi.gov.uk. Please use the contact us form for all other enquiries.

All contracts are let on the basis of the Department's terms and conditions and we encourage you to read these before submitting your expression of interest:

Preventing Extremism and Promoting Integration - New Research and Online Survey

Schools: we welcome your contributions.

We are conducting research into how schools in England are helping to protect vulnerable young people from the influence of extremism. The results of this research will help the Department and its partners provide better support to teachers.

The research will contribute to the objectives of the Government’s new Prevent strategy, and to the work on integration, led by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG). The work is being conducted for DfE by The Quilliam Foundation, an independent think-tank.

How you can contribute

The Department would like all schools in England to be able to contribute via an online survey which should take around five minutes to complete. The closing date is Monday 21 November 2011. The survey will ask about experiences and policies regarding:

• inviting external speakers to schools
• contact with external organisations
• hiring school premises to external organisations

The name of your school will not be collected as part of the survey, nor will any personal details. All information will be treated in the strictest confidence and used for research purposes only.

If you have any questions about this, or about the wider work to prevent extremism in schools, please contact:
