Langley Green and Bewbush regeneration given go ahead

Two major projects to improve the quality of life for residents have taken a major step forward.

Crawley Borough Council’s Executive has approved work to proceed on major regeneration work in central Langley Green and central Bewbush involving West Sussex County Council, the PCT and Sussex Police.

The multi-million proposals will see a significant improvement in the provision of community and health facilities in both neighbourhoods, as well as an enhanced physical environment.

Both schemes have involved extensive consultation with residents and other interested organisations, including Sport England, local schools, WSCC, and West Sussex PCT. Residents will have another chance to give their opinions on the plans in the near future.

John Thraves, Director of Community Services at Crawley Council, said: “More consultation events are taking place in Bewbush and Langley Green over the next two or three months. It’s vital that we hear everyone’s views on these proposals.”

The schemes will include contributions from all agencies involved and will take approximately two years to complete with work due to commence by summer 2007.
