Organisational structure

Chief Executive's Unit

Paul Matthews is the Chief Executive.

The Chief Executive's Unit is responsible for:

  • corporate leadership
  • effective democratic processes
  • coordination of partnership working
  • other corporate wide services including Human Resources and Health and Safety.

The Chief Executive undertakes the role of Head of Paid Service, and is accountable to the Council and to the citizens of Monmouthshire for the work and actions of all paid staff.

The Assistant Chief Executive is the Monitoring Officer for the Council and also manages Legal, Democratic and Member Support, Electoral Registration, Land Charges and Registrars services.

The policy and partnership service supports the development and use of the Community Strategy and Community Safety Partnership. The service also covers social injustice, equalities, sustainability and communities, emergency planning and civil contingencies.

The Communication Team supports media relations, web development and the production of internal and external publications.

The Corporate Personnel team includes human resources, corporate training and Health and Safety.
