Ahead to PART V : SUMMARY OF RECOMMENDATIONS

International Considerations

52. We recognise that developments in cloning by nuclear transfer are taking place around the world and there is a need for international guidelines. An absence of adequate controls in one country could transfer across international boundaries leading to welfare problems in the United Kingdom in due course. There should therefore be liaison with other members of the European Union and with appropriate international organisations, especially with regard to regulations and control.

Recommendation:

53. Liaison at an international level should be established to ensure similar controls are in place wherever this technology is being applied.
