Publication overview

Curriculum continuity and progression in learning are essential features of successful transfer and transition. This publication offers opportunities to review your current practice across the English curriculum and helps you to initiate effective transitions from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4 by creating teaching and learning plans that you can incorporate into a scheme of work and, with appropriate revision, use from year to year.
It includes four bridging projects, each of which take five to nine hours to complete:

  1. Pupil self-assessment
  2. Reading the media
  3. Poetry comparison
  4. Extending writing

Each project contains:

  • learning outcomes
  • relevant Year 9 and Year 10 objectives
  • lessons to use in your teaching
  • activities and self-assessment profiles.

Who is it for?
Heads of school departments, subject leaders and teachers.
