Provider choice: challenge of joining up services

Mike Hobday of Macmillan Cancer Support talks about the possibility of introducing greater choice of providers: ‘We are keen to see new and innovative services coming forward that really meet the needs of people living with cancer much better – the big challenge is making sure all the different services join up.’

He was speaking at a workshop ‘Any qualified provider – exploring the benefits for patient care’, held on 25 March 2011, which gave voluntary sector organisations and patient advocates the opportunity to discuss how the introduction of greater choice of provider might bring benefits for patients and carers.

The outcomes of this workshop and subsequent follow-up events will be fed into the NHS Future Forum.
