A final Impact Assessment of the European Fisheries Fund scheme has now been published.

EU funding 2007 - 2013

European Fisheries Fund

The European Fisheries Fund (EFF) is the new fund for EU fisheries grants operating until December 2013. It replaces the Financial Instrument for Fisheries Guidance (FIFG) grants. The EFF provides grants for the sustainable development of the fisheries sector.

UK National Strategic Plan for Fisheries

The UK National Strategic Plan for Fisheries describes the UK fisheries sector and UK objectives and priorities for fisheries between 2007 and 2013. It covers catching, aquaculture, inland fishing, processing and marketing. The UK had to prepare the Plan to demonstrate to the European Commission that it has clear strategic objectives for managing fisheries and on which to base its priorities under the European Fisheries Fund. The plan was formally submitted to the Commission in January 2008.

UK Operational Programme The UK Operational Programme sets out in more detail the UK’s priorities for EFF funding up to 2013 and flows from the UK National Strategic Plan.

Consultation was conducted on the Operational Programme between March – June 2008. The UK Operational Programme has now been approved by the European Commission and the scheme is open for applications in England.
