Fundamentals for Quality Improvement
Facilitation Guides

The success of any quality improvement programme will depend on securing the support and collaboration of colleagues at all levels of an organisation.  So for anyone with responsibility for quality improvement, facilitation is a key skill to have.

As part of the fundamentals for quality improvement, the NHS Institute offers a one-day foundation level course in facilitation skills.  The course is designed to provide NHS staff leading quality improvement activities with the formal training needed to successfully facilitate group work.

By the end of the day’s training, participants will have the skills and confidence to engage people and maximise their participation in the quality improvement process and to recognise difficult behaviours and use tools and strategies to intervene and manage the process.

The course is also suitable for experienced quality improvement leaders who want to make their improvement efforts even more effective by encompassing the theory and practice of group and team dynamics.

The facilitation skills for quality improvement in healthcare course is packed with top tools and techniques for facilitating groups for better results and is supported by the following publications:
  • The Facilitator's Toolkit – hints and ideas for making group meetings more productive (download PDF – opens in new window)

You can download a PDF of these publications free of charge by following the links above.  Hard copies are given to all delegates attending the one-day facilitation course.
