Providing information, advice and legal consents

We help charities use their resources efficiently and encourage them to adopt best practice to improve their effectiveness and the public’s confidence and trust in them.

One of the key ways we do this is by publishing general resources and guidance for charities, their advisers and the public in a variety of different formats. These pages on our website received over 10m views in 2009.

We also provide tailored advice to charities, their trustees, their advisers and the public. In some cases, we also provide legal consents where necessary to help charities continue to operate effectively. 

This work ranges from high-volume telephone and email queries to in-depth and complex case-work focused on supporting charities to resolve challenging issues or undertake significant projects. In the financial year 2008/09 we received 215,702 telephone calls, 50,651 emails and 52,757 items of post.
