Public opinion research

DFID commissions two annual public attitude surveys. One (commissioned annually since 1999, with more frequent reports during the last couple of years) monitors the opinion of the UK adult population. The second monitors the opinion of schoolchildren.

The survey results are used to inform, and monitor the impact of, our work on development awareness and education. DFID has also undertaken two sets of focus group research, to explore how we can increase levels of understanding of, and support for, international development within the UK.

Please contact the Public enquiry point with any comments.
