Street in Tiverton

The ship has affiliations with a number of different institutions and organisations. The affiliated town for HMS Enterprise is Tiverton. Tiverton is located in the heart of Devon, some 14 miles east of the Counties City of Exeter.

Tiverton enjoys two beautiful rivers, the Exe and the Lowman, which join just south of the town centre. It also boasts a canal whose starting point is within the town. Tiverton gained early importance as a ford across the river Exe in prehistoric and Roman times. Tiverton's later history was centred on the wool trade and it became one of the most important areas for the export of woollen cloth in the southwest.

Tiverton has a unique heritage of buildings with many different styles and periods all reflecting the town's history and varied fortunes. Tiverton has a number of important scheduled ancient monuments in its vicinity, Cranmore Castle, the burial mounds at Craze Lowman, Long Barrow and Bolham Hill Fort are of particular importance.
