  • TDA Seminar – Challenging Schools: the fact and fiction.
On 25 March 2010, the TDA held a flagship seminar at Burlington Danes Academy in London. Key note speakers, case study speakers and the pupils from Burlington Danes itself, provided valuable insight and thoughts on the issues that challenging schools face. Watch the videos and read the discussion forum to find out more!

  • First class career with second class perceptions
The Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) released research today to launch a major recruitment drive in the run-up to three national Train to Teach recruitment events across the country. The research shows that the general public and final year students under-estimate the salaries that teachers actually earn and the opportunities they have for career progression.
  • New Primary Curriculum launched

The new Primary Curriculum went live on the QCDA website on 31 January 2010. The resources on the site include the statutory aims of the Primary Curriculum, the essentials for learning and life and the six areas of learning plus RE. The website also includes a design tool to help schools plan a curriculum bespoke to the needs of their learners.

QCDA is distributing hardcopies of some these materials to schools and will do the same for primary ITT providers (week commencing 15 February). Alongside this the TDA and National Strategies are working with QCDA to support providers.

Some copies of the materials will be available at a minimal fee for additional orders after distribution. Alternatively, the materials are available available to download.

We would like to emphasise that while hardcopy versions can be useful, the website is designed to be used to support flexible, creative planning. The strongest understanding of the new curriculum's possibilities can be had by going online.

To discuss the new Primary Curriculum, or any details of the distribution to ITT providers, please contact the QCDA directly on 0300 303 3010 or email
