Tony Hanson receives honorary MBE from Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell



Basketball coach Tony Hanson was today presented with an honorary Master of the British Empire (MBE) by Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell, for his services to sport and youth development in the UK.

Clock is ticking to save 15th century Hours of the passion illuminated manuscript



Culture Minister, David Lammy, has placed a temporary export bar on a beautiful 15th century illuminated manuscript of the Hours of the Passion.  Previously unavailable to scholars and mostly absent in literature on manuscript illumination of the period, this will provide a last chance to raise the money to keep the manuscript in the United Kingdom.

Culture Minister offers last chance to save recently discovered early record of medieval Nottingham community



Culture Minister David Lammy has placed a temporary export bar on a 14th century guild roll - the earliest example of an important category of medieval record known to survive for Nottingham. This will provide a last chance to raise the money to keep the guild roll of the Guild of St Mary in Nottingham within the United Kingdom. 

2012 Cultural Olympiad moves up a gear as plans to create regional Creative programmers' are unveiled



A network of experienced regional reps is to be set up to move forward Government plans for an inspiring Cultural Olympiad in the run-up to the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, Culture Minister David Lammy announced today.
