Art competition winners announced

The winners of our latest art competition have been invited to visit Downing Street to see their pictures hung on the walls of Number 10.

Young artists from across Britain sent in their artwork for the latest competition which had the theme “keeping healthy”.

The winning pictures were chosen by members of a panel of judges, including the Prime Minister’s wife Sarah Brown, who were looking for creativity and artistic flair when choosing the best pictures from three age groups: 5 – 7, 8 – 11 and 12 – 16 years.

Commenting on the pictures, Sarah Brown said:

“Thank you so much to everyone who sent in their artwork. So much creativity and effort has gone into them. Picking the winning pictures was very difficult but they each have that little extra ’something’ that makes them stand out.

“And I really look forward to welcoming the winning artists to Number 10 to see their pictures on display.”

In the 5-7 year old category the joint winners were William McCulloch, Aged 5, from Winterton, North Lincolnshire and Joshua Bruce, Aged 7 from Orpington in Kent.

In the 8-11 age group the winner was Annabel Leigh, from Winchester, Hampshire and in the 12-16’s, Jessica Momen of Gosport.

All the winners will be invited in to Number 10 to see their pictures on display alongside those of more established artists, including Turner and Lowry.
