The UK and the OECD

The UK was a founder member of the OECD in 1961, which was created out of the post-World War II OEEC (the Organisation for European Economic Co-operation) under the Marshall Plan. Please see the OECD’s own history page for more information.

The UK can get a lot out of the OECD and the high quality work it produces. UKDel’s primary role is to help our partners in government realise this potential. We remain one of the largest budgetary contributors: in 2003 the UK’s contribution was £18.5 million - 7% of the total budget.

Global climate action

The move towards global and immediate action has been agreed as part of the Copenhagen Accord, following two weeks of intensive negotiations and two years of talks.
