This response continues the productive dialogue that has developed between students, higher education Institutions and the government so that the student voice can become central to the development of higher education policy and to the enhancement of the student experience.

In their report, members of the Forum looked at a wide range of issues, including teaching and learning, technology enhanced learning, student accommodation and employability. This year’s publication has also looked at issues affecting postgraduate students; mature and part-time students and disabled students.

In recognition of the Forums work to encourage and inspire continuing improvement across the HE sector, the government has made a commitment to respond publicly to the NSF report This response addresses directly the recommendations provided for government and national sector organisations. We have worked with a wide range of organisations from the sector including, UUK, Guild HE, NUS, and QAA.

We have also looked to three major government initiatives which encompass a number of the issues raised by the NSF. These are, Higher Ambitions – the government’s higher education framework, the Postgraduate Review and the Independent Review of student finance.

The NSF’s views have fed into the formation of these three initiatives highlighting the collaborative nature of our relationship with the Forum.
