Lyons Inquiry final report and recommendations

Lyons Inquiry into Local Government (Lyons Inquiry website)
The Chancellor, together with the Deputy Prime Minister, asked Sir Michael Lyons to consider the future funding arrangements for local government following the publication of the Government's Balance of Funding Review in 2004. The Inquiry's remit was extended in September 2005 to consider the form and function of local government. Sir Michael has published two interim reports to date on his work, in December 2005 and May 2006. His final report "Place-shaping: a shared ambition for the future of local government" is published on 21 March 2007.
