Geographies of China

With the celebration of Chinese New Year this month, discover more about the people and places of China from right across our activities.

London's Chinese community reflect on the Society's Chinese Collections around the themes of migration, identity and the role of women in Chinese Society in the exhibition "Seeing China: Community Perspecitives".

Uncover the remarkable journey of Isabella Bishop as she travelled across Western Sze-Chuan in 1896 by attending one of our Collections Showcases at the Society.

In an online showcase, take a look at an ancient Chinese map from the 1600s that, for the first time, linked the Occident with the Orient and gave China a view of the world.

Through our Grants programme we continue to support new research in the Greater China region, with 18 projects supported there in the past 5 years.

And looking towards next month, the focus of two of our Monday Night Lectures series will be on "China in the 15th Century" (15 March), and "Exploring China's great rivers" (29 March).
