St Nicholas, Brockley

Brockley church developed from a small Norman building in the 12th and 13th centuries. Its fine pinnacled tower was added in the 15th, but it owes much of its present furnishings and atmosphere to a thorough and graceful restoration in the 1820s. The south transept has a spacious family pew with separate entrance and a fireplace, added by the Pigotts whose association with the parish lasted 300 years. There is a Norman font and a stone pulpit of c. 1480.
