uk resource centre for women in science, engineering and technology

Employers

The UKRC works directly with employers in industry to promote better employment practice and workplace culture, to embed equality and diversity. Our aim is to help employers attract more women into science, engineering and technology, to retain women by improving their workplace experience and to fix the ‘leaky pipeline’ at critical points when women often fail to progress or leave, never to return.

We want to persuade employers not only that it is good practice to promote diversity and inclusion and should form part of their corporate social responsibility, but also that it makes sound business sense.

The UKRC can help employers establish schemes and projects to support and advance their women employees including: mentoring schemes and training for mentoring co-ordinators, mentors and mentees; leadership development; work experience placements; career break management; and implementing flexible, part-time and job share working.

Our experienced consultants will help companies assess the issues they may need to address and offer practical solutions, through tools and guides developed specifically for the science, engineering and technology sectors. Through our accreditation and award schemes we are able to reward and acknowledge those employers who are working hard to improve their diversity and inclusion and we can then share this best practice through our case studies.

These webpages will provide an overview of the issues around women's employment in science, engineering and technology and some of the ways the UKRC can help employers within these sectors. If you can't find what you're looking for, or if you'd like more details, please contact us.
