Drier weather finally on the way | 7 Dec 2009
Following more than 50 days of wet weather, drier conditions are forecast for later this week.

Showers spreading to northern and western areas. Drier in southeast.
Scattered heavy showers will spread to northern and western areas, these heavy over Scottish hills, Cumbria and northwest Wales with brisk southwesterly winds. Drier further south and east with broken cloud and mist and lighter winds.
The band of heavier showers will spread to southern and eastern areas this evening and overnight with western areas becoming drier. Some mist and fog forming where skies clear.
Some showers in the far northwest, otherwise dry with broken cloud and bright spells. Early morning mist and fog may be slow to clear in some places. Light winds.
