Research Councils are committed to an on-going process of continuous improvement in their performance. Each Council publishes its own service standards and reports its performance against these in its Annual Report and on its own website.
In addition, there are significant opportunities for improving efficiency and effectiveness through joint working between one or more of the Councils. The opportunities for joint working focus on two areas of activity:
- the Research Councils Efficiency Delivery Project, which aims to deliver £170 million of efficiency gains per year by 2007/08.
- developing and implementing a portfolio of operational projects to deliver more administrative functions and services on a common basis. This reflects the aspirations set out in the RCUK Administration Strategy for providing better services to the academic community and improving Councils own operational performance.
