About the Awards.jpg

"We need to have imagination & courage in order to seize the opportunities there are to transform the provision of care"

David Nicholson, NHS Chief Executive

The Health and Social Care Awards exist to:

  1. Highlight and celebrate innovation and excellence across health and social care;
  2. Recognise and encourage working together across organisations and professions, with service users and local populations.

The Health and Social Care Awards have an established eight year history  and provide an unparalleled opportunity to highlight and celebrate innovation and excellence in frontline health and social care.

Throughout the NHS, social services, the voluntary, charity and independent sectors, there are people who are passionate about finding new ways of doing things to provide the best possible care to their local population…. and then continue to improve it.

People who deliver frontline care, people who lead teams and organisations, people who commission services, people who develop new technology….

These are people who recognise and utilise the expertise of patients, service users and carers; people who don’t let organisational and professional boundaries get in the way of providing the care and services needed by their local population.

The Health and Social Care Awards are run in partnership between the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement and the Department of Health.
