Licensing of wheel clamping businesses

The current licensing system for individual vehicle immobilisers (clampers) has reduced crime and tightened standards in the industry. However, it has become clear that it does not address all the concerns people have about the conduct of car clamping businesses.

We are aware that some businesses indulge in unacceptable behaviour, including levying excessive fees, and using vague signs.

We intend to act to stop this.

This consultation takes a vital step towards ending those practices, and is asking for your views on a range of options to further tighten the rules.
